The Centre hosts joint Talk Money Week webinar with the Money and Pensions Service
09/11/23
This week during Talk Money Week, the Centre for Financial Capability hosted a joint webinar with the Money and Pensions Service (MaPS) on “What We Know and Don’t Know About the Financial Wellbeing of Children and Young People in Vulnerable Circumstances.”
The virtual event presented a unique opportunity to examine and interrogate gaps in the evidence about the financial capability and education needs of children and young people in vulnerable circumstances in the UK. Over the last few years MaPS and others have invested in building robust evidence to help the sector to better understand how we can ensure children and young people in vulnerable circumstances have access to an effective financial education.
We were delighted to be joined by a number of speakers including representatives from MaPs, Professor Tina Harrison, Professor of Financial Services Marketing and Consumption at Edinburgh University and Leon Ward, CEO of My Bnk. We were also pleased to be joined by more than 100 attendees for this important discussion.
The Money and Pensions Service (MaPS) and The Centre for Financial Capability (TCFC) remain committed to understanding and examining ‘what works’ in developing and delivering financial education for children and young people. We look forward to continuing to work together and with the sector to ensure that high quality and effective research is at the heart of solutions to tackling financial vulnerability.
